CANCELED – Cherokee Village July 4, 2020 Firework Show
After careful consideration and close consultation between the Cherokee Village A&P Commission, Cherokee Village Police Department, Cherokee Village Fire Department, Spring River Paramedics and Cherokee Village Suburban Improvement District, we have reached the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Cherokee Village July 4 fireworks on Lake Thunderbird.
We all look forward to the July 4th firework show. The holiday is both a time to celebrate our nation’s independence and a time for our community to come together for the annual pancake breakfast and evening boat parade and firework show. While we are disappointed about not having this year’s July 4 festivities, we remain committed to doing all we can to protect our First Responders (police, fire and EMTs), our citizens and community. Simply put, we could not find a good alternative to having a firework show on and around the lake without generating large crowds of both local and out of town visitors that makes it too difficult to safely adhere to State guidelines and recommendations for social distancing.
The July 4th weekend will still be a time for Villagers and their guests to gather as families and in small groups to responsibly enjoy the lakes, rivers, golf courses, parks and trails, and to celebrate the many things we all value about living in this beautiful community and in this wonderful country.
We appreciate your understanding and we look forward to the time when we can all
come back together to celebrate our community.
